Hi all,
i am curious to know your opinion on which is the best way to promote a business company which has not a large budget for marketing activities.
The web? Of course. But what can we do a part from investing into the website ranking and managing a two-week-newsletter?
My company is a B2B, so we don't deal with the public but only with resellers. Have you got any other idea? A side from the web too.

I am in the same position as you, and do not have an answer so hopefully someone will provide some tips for us.

We are in a different situation than most - we are not looking for end buyers, but companies to purchase our products. I have tried direct mailing, with limited success. I have a website, and have a section where I request that potential end users ask their local company to carry my products, but that has not worked as well as I had hoped.

As we work on ur branded software, i was considering on making more marketing to the end user, trying to generate more requests. After that, i'd turn the requests to the resellers. But it's a very hard job to do. I don't know why resellers, do not invest into marketing by theirselves, even if they are well supported by our presence and good margins. Probably i wonder what's the best way to promote our suveillance product solutions, i am so willing to do many things but i'd need some good advice.

I do B2B marketing and it's tough to offer specific marketing strategy advice, but the key to B2B is developing relationships especially if your offering is expensive. B2B lead to conversion times can be long and they require nurturing that relationship to build trust and rapport. I teach my clients to develop a marketing strategy that's targeted and has measurable ways to get people to identify themselves to you. This way you can educate them over time with information they value, such as how what you offer solves their unique problem, and build their trust and confidence to buy. And then you make an offer rather than hoping they call on you. An example of this is guest posting on blogs your target audience reads in order to bring attention to your website/blog at the beginning or end of the post. The key then is to have an opt-in on your site so that when they visit, they subscribe or sign up for something. Now you can communicate with them via email until the timing is right to call or make an offer. Again, the steps are find, identify, educate and motivate. Check out my blog at the link in my signature for more info on marketing and sales. Hope this helps some.

To work on a budget, I would recommend that you focus on community building. If you are able to build a community it will enable you to utilize a free work force. This doesn't have to be just through a forum, but could also be through other forms of networking (Skype, Google+, etc).

Depending on the niche, a forum makes sense. You can provide free incentives to those members in exchange for article writing and activity. But if you are just focusing on a specialty product (lets say, a blender), you might want to focus more on building a Skype room with collaborators. The most important thing if you are networking through Skype or some other means, is to be sure that you focus on the success of your product. Don't just have a vision, but have a plan.

The money you do have to spend, well I'd spend it on content. Have a quality article writer who can keep an active blog going. Feed those to your social media and be sure to post pictures on the social media outlets from time to time. This will do a lot for you in terms of organic growth. Best of luck!

Make use of all your social networking system. Maximize blogs and sites where you could backlink. But then again, I suggest you focus first on branding. Once you have established your brand, it will be so easy to market it.

Although you already said the web, I can't stress how big this is. Everything happens online nowadays and so should your business.

You can also go to conventions specific for you kind of field and advertise there.

An obvious solution is social media, and the good thing about social media is free advertising. Another solution would be forums. You have to think from the audience's perspective. If you were to look for your own products on the internet, which forum would you likely go to in order to find more information about them?

I think an under-rated way to advertise your business is to utilize various crowd-funding websites. Here are a few that I have had an eye on.
www.kickstarter.com
www.rockethub.com
www.fundable.com

Find a way to expand your operation, and try to fund raise yourself to the next step. I like this method because these websites also act like a flyer, effectively marketing your concept. I raised $25,000 for a card game a few years ago, and still get people saying they stumbled upon my "Kickstarter" page.

If you are B2B then I would recommend just allotting the budget into a sales team or promotion team. I think just a basic presence online should be enough when you are not trying to appeal to the consumer market anyway, and your best bet would probably be in having a team making calls all day and visiting companies etc. As JoelFortner has already stated, the key is to build relationships, and I think a sales team is the right step to getting your foot in the door.

Any business should have a Facebook even if it is B2B you can get the word out there to other businesses not just personal Facebook accounts and it is free. Also see if there are any B2B groups in your area or online communities. My last suggestion would be to contact your local chamber of commerce if you have one and asked to added to their list.

The best marketing strategy is not to rely on one single marketing strategy / medium. Try out a variety of marketing mediums, both traditional and new mediums, SEO, SEM, email, SMS, word-of-mouth, etc.

I really think you should advertise and go for people in your locality. Friends, family, neighborhood would definitely be a good base as you start your kind of business. It would help you expand and make your name known too.

I think right now it would be best to do both online and offline marketing. It is better to cast your nets on both sides so that when on fails you will have a back up plan. It does not have to be that expensive. I know for offline marketing is the one that might be a bit expensive.

Budget is the major constraint when you prepare a marketing strategy for a small company. Small companies can market their product locally and on the internet. These are the two modes of advertising which give you best return for your investment. They can start local advertising with the help of billboards, roadshows, free samples, etc. And they can start online advertising by putting ads on social networking sites.

I suggest that your B2B company rent out a booth at a local business fair or at a similar event. You can present your business to those who are looking to set up a their own business or those who are looking for a job.

As a small business you need to start slow. Invest in advertising first for the local community. Once you start to have loyal customers you will have their support and trust and you can move forward by encouraging them to recommend your business to family and friends. You can print hand-outs and provide discounts for customers who bring in a friend with them. Since your company is B2B, you can help your clients by promoting their business while they help you promote yours.

As you are B2B business, the communities around the web is perfect platform where you can grow your market. Linked In is biggest successful B2B platform. Apart from this there are many forums and guest blogging websites. Reach out there, help people, make relation with people and then push your product of service is the best way.

What gets a business succeed takes many factors, and a great marketing plan is one of the biggest factors.

It's difficult to decide what the best marketing strategy for your business is, but I would say that you should start off with a marketing budget. You must know what you could afford and how much you should allocate as marketing expenses.

As you said, you joined LinkedIn, forums, and blogs. This is a great way to start, mostly because it is affordable and most of the time, free. However, in terms of other marketing strategies, try thinking physical. Maybe put up tarpaulins in places where you know your market goes. Little marketing steps like these can grab a bigger market share, yet it's true, it takes a little more cash, but again, take little steps.

I believe the best marketing strategy for any small businesses is to have a website. It is the main platform where your current and potential customers can most easily find and connect with you.

Be sure to invest in a contemporary website with a visually appealing color scheme and straightforward navigation. It will not only make your website more attractive and seamless to navigate, but will also reflect on the professionalism of your business. Be careful about using features such as Flash which may negatively impact your site’s search ranking potential and which don’t load on some smartphones.

In drafting content for your website, be sure to incorporate keywords that consumers will most likely use when searching for your products and services. Ensure that your web designer incorporates these keywords into anchor text in page URL links and adds keyword-specific titles, descriptions and tags to videos posted on your website.

In order to stay relevant to those visiting your site (including search engine crawlers) be sure to update your website content on a consistent basis. Develop an editorial calendar to update your site in conjunction with big promotions and sales, events, and other notable activities, or when you introduce new products or services.

Pay close attention to where your website visitors are coming from, how they’re finding you, and what they’re doing while on your website, so you can consistently update and improve their experiences through tweaks to your site’s navigation and content.

Social media sites are free and for me they seem to be the best way to promote a business now if you are on a low budget. I used it on some occasional advertising and it worked well. It all depends on how you interact with your connections. Do not spam then with your posts or else they will stop responding to them.

Trying to conduct small business trade show or event can be helpful in making popularity for the business. However you can also gain knowledge from these events. These events give an array of opportunities for an individual to promote their business. It will not only publicize your product but also you can make strong impression in the minds of the people. Trade show usually attended by the common people and also the professionals. This way, you can get maximum exposure for the business among the people. You can even try listing your trade shows in listing websites for a better reach.

- Business Networking and Seminars

As per my belief internet marketing is one of the best source these days for either small or large business. Internet marketing widens the scope and and is accessible from anywhere. The advertisers are able to reach a large number of audience at a much cheaper cost. Advertising through banners, television, newspapers, magazines etc. is costlier and cover a small number of audience as compared to internet marketing. Internet marketing is a perfect solution for small scale business.

I agree with all these options. But the best thing about a website is that you can include a blog in it. So when you attract readers to your blog, they'll want to find out more about you, the author. Maybe they'll buy your service and even share it with their friends. At this rate (if people keep sharing and sharing and sharing...) then you'll get popular among a certain community of people.

This is where social media comes in. With social media, you can target a specific audience that you want (mid-30s, people with disabilities, cancer patients, etc.). Twitter is the best for this because of its short messages with hashtags that target a specific keyword. I recommend going into Google Adwords and researching some keywords to use in your tweets.

For example, I'm in the translation & video testimonial industry. When I went to Google Adwords, the keyword with the most volume was 'translators' and not 'translator'. So one letter really makes a difference. Experiment with social media, getting a website, and blogging. I would recommend going with BlueHost. $2.75 per month on a 36 month billing period --- Only $99. (Some experience in blogging)

This is an older thread. Hopefully the OP got some good advice. I'll throw my hat in the ring.

For B2B, Facebook ads, Instagram messages and Linkedin InMail.

Facebook is the easiest because you can target your target client. In B2B, you're still trying to reach people. If you're looking for people who work in huge corporations, it makes your marketing easier. You can make ads directly targeted for them. "Hey Coca-Cola employee." Or if you know their name, "Hey Alice..." We've found good results, with little money invested because they see it, their coworkers see it and tell them about it etc.

On Instagram, for smaller businesses, more than likely the one monitoring the messaging is one step removed from the CEO/founder. Don't be spammy, be helpful.

On LinkedIn, you can message the person directly. Offer to take them to breakfast. Simple, but effective for a meeting.

Mininge45

Offer walk ins a discount if they give you your email address.

Make sure you're making this offer to everyone.

Enter all the addresses you collect into a email autoresponder/broadcast tool.

Active Campaign is what I recommend.

Now your business has a list of paying customers that you can promote to at anytime.

Nothing can take this list away from you.

That is the problem with SEO and social media. If Facebook or Google change their algorithim then you can't promote your business as well as you did before.

But with a list, you control it and you can direct them to do whatever you want.

Running a special for St Patricks day? Email your list tell them to come in and visit for it.

Fourth of July around the corner? Come check out our partners in the parking lot selling fireworks.

Christmas rush got you down. Grab a drink at our sponsored even at the local watering hole.

It's your list do whatever you want with it. And remember you have it for life so treat it well.

Hi all,
You should create a brand strategy for your business. It includes business goal, products/ services, target customer, target audience & target geography. On the basis of your target audience create social media accounts for the same. Then do keyword research on & off page SEO for your website.

As per my personal opinion, Email Marketing is an effective way to generating new leads to your business. If you have an email list of potential clients, developing targeted campaigns will help you to attract customers. The more professional looking your emails are, the more likely people are to want to do business with your company. Inspite of this, Social Media is also a good marketing strategy for small companies to grow.

The easy answer to marketing is figuring out where your customers are hanging out and where they are looking for solutions to their problems. Assuming that your product/service is properly calibrated to solving the right problem in your market, then the next step is getting in front of prospects.

For B2B, some top candidates are:
1. Google - Adwords PPC and then possibly SEO (long term, takes 6-12 months) once you find the great keywords
2. Quora - answering questions of your prospects by solving their problems, then you can do paid ads as well
3. LinkedIn - join groups that your prospects would be in and start solving problems, then have a great profile that invites them to direct contact you, consider paid ads too

For B2C, it's similar but instead:
1. Google - Adwords PPC and then SEO (once you find the great keywords)
2. Facebook - join groups that your prospects would be in and start solving problems, venture into paid ads targeting liked pages of your ideal customer, do the work of calibrating your ads until they perform (it's a lot of work to get great results but worth it)
3. Instagram/Pinterest - if your target is female and your product is very visual, consider strategies on these platforms to get traffic

I would count on content marketing. Build a blog in your niche, write high quality articles and link to your small business when you can. It will take a bit of time to get visitors from google or other search engines, but once your posts will rank, people will find your website and read it.
Use a service for e-mail marketing. Offer visitors a free high quality ebook in exchange of their e-mail adress, then you can market to them multiple times. But don't just sell, give real value.

How I got funding for my project on the first day:

You can check out my kickstarter here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1588323571/1908101751?ref=617509&token=9933ca2a

Thinking about getting my kickstarter funded while I was still planning the campaign seemed near impossible when I saw the sheer volume of similar kickstarters out there - how could I appeal to the backers and stand out from the competition?

I reached out to my network contacts
During the planning of my eyewear campaign I reached out to an online eyewear retail company who I had worked with, so I could collect feedback and suggestions from over 200,000 customers to apply to my collection of eyewear. This is how I could be sure that my products appealed to the needs and interests of my backers.

I also reached out to co-workers,bloggers, friends and family, to help spread the word about my campaign before the launch. This grew my list of email subscribers and followers/likes on my campaign’s social media pages!

I set a reasonable goal
When I started my kickstarter I decided on setting my pledge goal to be the minimum that I needed to raise. This made it more likely to be funded while appearing more successful in getting backers. No one wants to back something that is not even close to the goal, but people are more attracted in supporting something that was fully funded early on.

I can provide a couple of suggestions:

1. Work on your SEO ranking so that the SERPs rank your website on the first page of the search.

2. As you are a B2B company, consider using LinkedIn actively as your social media marketing platform. LinkedIn has proved to be one of the best marketing platforms for B2B companies. Grow your network and ensure you are maintaining these relationships.

3. If you are based in Canada or the US, an alternative to LinkedIn would be Alignable. This is an ideal B2B networking and referral platform.

You’ve got a great idea for a business, you’ve got everything in place including your logo and now you need to find your customers.

You could offer the best products or services in the world, but that alone won’t help if your potential customers can’t find you – so you need a great marketing strategy to match.
In order to communicate what your company is, does and stands for, you need to have a clear identity. Once you know what your company represents, you need a suitable name, a logo, colors and imagery that convey this to your customers.

There are several different options for how to do this, including hiring a freelancer or collaborating with an established agency. This kind of work can be costly, but it’s money well spent. Think about how huge companies like Starbucks or McDonald’s are defined by their brands, logos and colors.

When you have your logo, make sure you put it on everything, advertising, business cards, envelopes, email signature and so on to build brand awareness and visibility. You should also go beyond just “rubber stamping” your logo everywhere – your brand should be memorable even if the logo is removed.

Before the Internet, small businesses only had a few ways to market their products cheaply, through methods like printing out fliers or sponsoring little local events. Now there are all kinds of opportunities out there on the Web—you just need to know where to look.
Here are six ways to promote your business online that won't cost you a dime:
1. Use the three big local listing services
2. Embrace social media
3. Start a blog
4. Put up multimedia on YouTube and Flickr
5. SEO your company web
6. Press releases

It depends on the type of Marketing. In Business to Business Marketing, It is slightly different from Business to Customer Marketing, in which a business offers its services to any other business. And unlike Business-to-Customer Marketing in this kind of marketing, many channels are involved in marketing, and every one has to take several disciplines related to channel price, buy and sell, payment method and storage, etc.

First make sure that you are creating genuine value, and your business is built with extreme integrity.

The more your customers know about you, the better for your customer. Most businesses are shy about letting people see who they are. Those businesses that can openly let people evaluate their service will outmarket their competition.

Whether you're just starting a new consulting firm, running a local consignment store, or opening a cafe, you're trying to figure out ways to attract business without breaking the bank.
Use your entire social networking platform. Optimize blogs and sites where backlinks are possible. But then again, I recommend that you concentrate on marketing first. Once you've set up your brand, marketing will be so fast.

Small business today is not easy, because it is subjected to pressure from all sides. In addition, because of quarantine, a whole bunch of new standards and norms have appeared that must be observed, otherwise your company may receive a huge fine, which is useless in these difficult times. In this case, it would not hurt you to use the services of Global entity management (https://www.thinkglobalcompliance.com/)
This company helps small and large companies manage their enterprise, reducing unnecessary costs, increasing revenues and normalizing work.

We are in a different situation than most - we are not looking for end buyers, but companies to purchase our products. I have tried direct mailing, with limited success. I have a website, and have a section where I request that potential end users ask their local company to carry my products, but that has not worked as well as I had hoped.

Since you deal with B2B companies then the best way to advertise your company is by writing blogs or articles related to your company and some that are about your company. Other than that Social Media Marketing is the best method such as LinkedIn which is used for professional use other than that Facebook can prove to be very useful for re-sellers of any kind since they usually use social media platforms for their business.

One of the most cost-effective marketing strategies for small businesses is to list your company for free on Google My Business (GMB). GMB is particularly powerful for businesses wanting to target local clients, because it immediately gives your business visibility on Google.

was considering on making more marketing to the end user, trying to generate more requests.
