It really depends on finding your customer through profiling your current customers - either one works once you've found your niche market.

If you are planning on throwing a big net, you will miss out of the small fish that the big guys can't afford to please.

Hy edatascholars,
It is good that you are expanding your services but social media marketing and email marketing both have importance. According to current market trend SMO is more effective.
Best of luck :)

I know that most of the email marketing I get goes straight to the trash can folder, but I still use it :/ Sometimes that's your best way to reach the right person to do business with in an organization.

Here’s the thing: it’s not necessary to choose one or the other. Indeed, both can generate a lot of value.
While it’s important to remember what each channel does best, and to stay on message, integration holds the promise of big benefits for both email and social marketing. Email and social work best when not in competition with one another.

We absolutely agree with those who have already commented on this thread already. There is absolutely no reason to choose between the two. Social media marketing is usually best for brand building but can also be very effective. Email marketing is also a quite powerful marketing tool. Just make sure you utilize A/B testing when using these tools to optimaize your conversions.

Both Email Marketing and Social Media Marketing are effective channel to increase website traffic. But if you are looking for conversion that I think Email Marketing is a good choice, whereas Social Media Marketing helps to increase Brand Awareness, as well as to boost Traffic.

Both are pretty good methods for improve your site traffic. Comparing these two I prefer email marketing because it is most effective technique. For that am using marketing tool Apptivo, it can manage activities like generate campaigns, tracking email and more. I got better results from this method.

Now this isn't the answer you're looking for.

But what's better? Social media or email marketing.

The answer is...

Both.

Now get this.

Use social media to target your customers or potential customers in your area. Occasionally send them to a website where they can enter their email address in exchange for a coupon/weekly updates/special event notifications whatever you can think of.

And now the email marketing takes effect. You email them whenever you have something to promote and you know from your social media usage that they're potential customers.

You just have to give them a little nudge to get them into your business.

A coupon.

A special you're running.

A charity even you're having.

It could be anything.

But now you have an email list that you control. So when Facebook or Twitter changes their algorithim and you can't reach as many customers you'll have your list that you own and you can contact them with whatever you want.

tl;dr Use social media to build an email list which is an asset to your business for the rest of your life.

According to me SMO is much more better then Email marketing. Atleast i have seen more success in SMO in comparision to Email marketing as I didn't have an email list to send emails :) . SMO didn't requires anything to get started your marketing campaign all you need is know your targeted Audiences.

Social Media Marketing is better than the email Marketing because email mail marketing has various disadvantages which includes spam that can lead to put a ban on your services or products.Whereas working on social media marketing that includes is better as it involves a large number of people to aware about your services through various medium such as Facebook, Google+, Linked In and Twitter.

As with most things, the answer depends. When marketing it is always important to explore multiple channels and integrate them when possible. In this case you can integrate them together. Email lists are great because you can reach to potential customers on demand. But you need something enticing enough for them to leave you their email. Also, you'll need to spread awareness of whatever you're offering to build your list, and obviously this is where social media can come into play.

On the off chance that you are a computerized advertiser, you can't pass up a major opportunity for email promoting. Numerous advanced advertisers don't consider email showcasing and list building important in light of the fact that email open rates are on the decrease and the majority of your messages arrive in the advancements tab if your supporters are utilizing Gmail.

Yet at the same time, in my experience, email is the best change channel that I have encountered up until this point. Here are three reasons why you should fabricate an email rundown and execute email promoting for your business.

1. Messages are close to home and can be redone

Messages can be redone superior to sites since you obviously know who your intended interest group is. You can section your email list into various client symbols and send messages that are customized and focused to each portion of your crowd.

2. Nobody can constrain access to your crowd

On the off chance that you have an email rundown of 1,00,000 individuals and send a communicate email to every one of them, your message will arrive in the inbox of no less than 98 percent of this gathering of people. Two percent may skip or not get conveyed because of specialized issues.

Nobody in the center will limit you since they are your clients. They gave their email ID to you and henceforth you can contact them. Notwithstanding, Facebook Likes and Twitter supporters are not your clients. Indeed, they have gotten refreshes from your Facebook page or Twitter handle, yet they are not your clients since they have not given you their email ID and did not enlist on your site.

Hi, if you are thinking about social media I have a tip for you. Rather than just create a Facebook page for your business (which is fine), think about create a community page too. Let's say for example you are a business selling bikes. By creating a community page you are not hard selling (which is tough on social). Build your community by offering exciting content, memes, funny engaging stories, photos, videos, tips, advice and more....Then link a shop button when you have built your following. Add the occasional post back to your e-commerce website - and remember - don't bombard with sales. A good book to read on this is Gary Vee, Jab Jab Punch - Google it.

The main goal of SMO is to create the web traffic and increase the awareness of the site, personally, I don't think e-mailing is one of the most efficient ways of promotion, as in most cases 60% of all promotion e-mails are going to spams, 30% have been never opened as considered as an ordinary everyday advertising and even the rest 10% if open their e-mail, usually close it at once.

Both have their own unique way of generating leads. I personally would rely on a reputed third party buy/sell portal. Their reputation serves as the backbone of your marketing plans. I have personally tried eworldtrade for this purpose & have had a lot of success with it. You can also have a go at it since they have this great package of offering up to 10 free leads to first time customers. You can sign up here if you want:

I'm not a marketing person, so keep that in mind...

They are different, and each has their own strengths and weaknesses.

I think Social Media is probably better for interacting with and attracting new customers and email marketing is good for customers you've already established a relationship with. At least this is how I find myself behaving as a consumer. I rarely read emails from people I don't already know. I might, on the other hand, notice a new company via some sort of social media post and decide to buy something from them. On the other hand, if I am emailed from a company I know, I might read the email or I might not. If I do, I may decide I need to buy their product or I might not. Since I don't generally read emails from unknown parties, those companies never even get that chance. In fact, they are most likely to be reported as spammers.

I will go for SMO, people nowadays sit still in their mobile devices that has social media apps. e.g. Facebook, Twitter etc. When you search in google "how to increase website traffic through social media".
The LinkCollider (https://www.linkcollider.com) is in the very first page. LinkCollider is a SEO tool that uses link building and social media sites. I hope this could help you with your strategy. Cheers!

This isn't an either or question, for sure.

On the one hand, social media marketing let's you connect with new customers, as well as engage with those who have already signed up. You can also put your message in their social media feed, where some people are more likely to pay attention to it. An email could be detailed (or read).

SMO is the better option as compare to email marketing. Because on Social media we can interact with people directly and we can deliver the information regarding product and services in direct way. But email it is not possible mail should deliver to people, it could be spam or junk. So, as per my point of view social media is better option.

Depends on your business model and what products/services you are selling. Email marketing you have to be careful with because your domain/email can become blacklisted but we offer ways to do that properly through our social media marketing services. Marketing in itself has to be strategic and often best if done in steps to get warm leads instead of shooting in the dark with cold leads and trying to get a hit.

Organic social media marketing has taken its fair share of hits, but it remains one of the most effective strategies for generating new visibility. You have the power to engage with almost anyone in the world through social media, gradually building up a loyal audience.
Email newsletters usually revolve around the provision of content to subscribers, increasing their loyalty and retention while simultaneously setting up a recurring traffic stream back to your site.
One of the strategy is to use Lead Generation tool that will help you improve your marketing game. You can visit LeadLake which is a business search engine equipped with machine learning, artificial intelligence, predictive analysis etc.

It depends on your needs. There is a lot of advantages of using social media marketing but also we should pay attention to email marketing. Maybe the best way is to plan both campaigns at the same time, to combine it.

For example, you can create a landing page and after that, you can promote that landing page through the sponsored social media post. With, this approach you can involve people in the funnel and get your VIP subscribers. In these days the list of subsribers, potential leads is a big advantage. Because you have a contact with your leads always, and if you have something new to offer you can offer it exclusively to them with a special promotion price or something like that.

If you need something else or if you are having some more questions please let us know we will be more than happy to help you.8)

I think it depends on your target audience.
If you are B2B, then Email marketing suits you the best.
If you are B2C, then Social marketing match you.
Anw, Social marketing costs a lot so be sure you have clear goal and target before doing anything.

It's easy to see why – Facebook, Twitter, and similar platforms make it easier than ever to share updates and promotions with a virtual crowd. Social media helps you grow your brand publicly, and it's gratifying to see people like and share your posts in real time.

Email, on the other hand, has been around for quite a bit longer. On the surface, it's less exciting than social media. Overall, social media channels have a much higher engagement rate than email marketing – consumers are more likely to share social media content from brands than they are email content. Though email may have high conversion rates, it only allows you to engage with those who have opted in to communication.

I agree with you that mailing lists are relatively cheap. But very often the ROI, CPM and CPC do not justify themselves. People are already accustomed to mailing lists and most of them are automatically perceived as spam without reading letters. Automatically delete them. While mass SMS messages are more productive. Even with their prices, that is less than mailings through specialized services. Compare here https://bsg.world/ . This is really an indicator.

Hello edatascholars,
Social media has become a major fixture in the online marketing landscape. It's easy to see why – Facebook, Twitter, and similar platforms make it easier than ever to share updates and promotions with a virtual crowd. In fact, 83% of marketers say that social media is important for their business.

If you underestimate the power of email, though, you could be seriously missing out. Email is still very much alive, and it's not going away anytime soon. Hi Scholars,

Totally agree both are different avenues, and it's all about the message you want your audience to receive. I would strategize on having both, not competing on one another.
Also, do some searching where your audience (customers) spends the most time.

Asaka
08-22-2018, 08:54 AM
Both are reliable and each has its pluses. But their combination gives a good gain in potential customers. If you have your own site, then the linking of social networks will give your traffic increase. Regular mailings will not allow your customers to leave you. But if you perform an audit of your site, develop a mobile or web application for it, then the increase will be even more significant. Why do you think web development services (https://rubygarage.org/services/web-development) are popular? It is because they give a huge increase in the development of your marketing structure.

There are different reasons people why businesses use email vs. social media marketing (https://www.digidir.com/service/social-media/). Ideally, marketers should use social media to grow their audience and encourage fans to become email subscribers.

Dear edatasvholars,

If you only focus on SMM(Social Media Marketing), you will not found your targeted audience always. But SMM is very important & easy to make your company famous to other. On the other hand if you have a strong database then you will be got very good response by using email marketing. So I suggest you first make your site or company famous and then start email marketing. I also following this strategy for my site GoSourcing365 an online sourcing platform for textile products and get good response everyday.

Wish you a successful business ahead.

if you really want to take advantage of digital marketing then follow below steps:

1. Build a responsive and mobile friendly website (Load speed under 3 seconds and AMP pages)
2. Create Social media channels of your business
3. Build high-quality user-friendly content around each service or product and inform user in which areas you are best
4. If you are a local company then do some Local Marketing Campaigns (Local SEO, GMB)
5. Do some indoor and outdoor signage campaigns
6. Do content marketing through your website blog

Following the above steps will help you in building a trusted or quality brand.

In order to get free followers (http://freefollowersboost.com) you need to search web for some ways to attract them. And the most obvious thing you will find there - followers are attracted by content. And it's true tho. You may use the most up to date boosting services, but if your content lacks quality, you will never make it anywhere else.

There is no comparison between Social media marketing and Email marketing. Both marketing mediums are best in their promoting ways. But I would say Social media marketing is the most effective way for promotion and advertisement. And the Instagram social media platform is the best platform for using in marketing.

I know social media is a great platform. But for me, Email Marketing is better. If you create a healthy database of your target audience you a convert them into leads at a much low cost. ROI of email marketing is still by far the best of any digital marketing platforms.

Email Marketing and social media marketing can appear very similar. Both, deliver messages directly to leads who have showed an interest in a company product. If both the technique is done by proper way then they can produce handsome rewards.

For example, Facebook is one of the biggest social media and leading platform for marketing and for email marketing you can use the mail-chimp.

Internet based life has turned into a noteworthy installation in the web based advertising scene. It's anything but difficult to perceive any reason why – Facebook, Twitter, and comparable stages make it simpler than at any other time to impart updates and advancements to a virtual crowdIf you think little of the intensity of email, however, you could be genuinely passing up a major opportunity. Email is still particularly alive, and it's not leaving at any point in the near future. From various perspectives, email is significantly more successful than its appealling internet based life cousins

personal think, these two methods can be used together.
SMO brings visitors, and maybe can make the website to be friendly to visitors and makes them wanna leave an email address. After you got lots of email address, may you can ask if they would like to receive some news about the topic you mentioned.

Hello Edata! As my point of view and according to the market, social media marketing is more effective than using email marketing. Because Social Media Marketing is one of the most prominent methods to gain traffic and visibility for the website, brand or products. Social Media Marketing also helps us in expanding our Business at a higher level.

EsmailHanif

Both are different channels and should be targeted accordingly. Either way knowing your audience is key. While, on email you are targeting the people who already know about you. Social Media is where you can find more people at the top of the funnel, either though paid marketing(money to be spent) or organic marketing(free traffic).

Social media is better in most cases, simply because it has the capacity to expand virally, while with emails, you get almost zero response and non expansion problem, e.g. you get what you pay for (X number of sent messages, that is).

You can use Instagram, it is a great platform to promote your business. There is even a tool (IG Hoot (https://hashtagpirate.com/news/ig-hoot-review-apps-grow-ig-followers)) that helps gain followers that is heavily used in the marketing. So yeah, you should definitely use social media for marketing.

Hi Storm Trooper! Are you using Instagram in your business? It's growing and I'm oh so curious. (Color me a newbie in many areas, but I still remember the day, MANY years ago, when I received an email with the subject line: "Do you Tweet?" Back then, nobody knew what Twitter WAS! I can barely believe it.

Regardless of whether it's email or Social Media Marketing, according to the all time guru of sales Zig Ziglar, we have to touch base with customers more than once. It takes a while for many people to make up their minds! ;)

I think Social Media Marketing is better because nowadays social networks are very popular, more and more people are becoming social media members.
Especially it's true for Instagram. I think Instagram is the best place for promoting and selling your products and services.
But there are some problems that I faced during running my business on Instagram. I have many links that are very important such as email, WhatsApp, my website, Facebook, Youtube and on Instagram it's impossible to place all these links in bio because you can add only one link that people can follow. If you just place these links in bio (not in a special field) people won't be able to follow them and even copy it. It's not convenient for my clients and followers ((( I didn't know how to deal the problem and then I've heard about a really good instrument taplink.at (https://taplink.ru/invite/1514.2ddf/)!! With the help of this tool I could create a page where all my links are placed and they are all clickable!! So people can easily follow them. Earlier my clients couldn't follow the links, but after that more and more people came from these links. It's really useful service, I highly recommend it people who want to increase sales on Instagram!!

Mgandy

Well honestly it depends on the type of business you have and the products and services you are trying to market. There not a one fit all solutions when it comes to marketing. Every business is unique and has specific marketing needs.

Email marketing has higher click through rate but that’s because you are sending emails to customers and potential customers that have already opted in to receiving your emails.

Social media marketing you first would need to choose an appropriate site to use. For example b2b company might have more luck using linkedin while consumer based would probably focus on Facebook, Instagram or some other site. You would need to demographic of your core audience to choose the most appropriate social media site for you.

You can also do Pay per click on most social media sites that might be something you want to look into.

I do digital marketing for living if I could be of any help let me know.

Thanks,

I think Social Media Marketing is way better than Email Marketing. That's why I paid the guys from Inquivix for the SNS 마케팅 (https://www.inquivix.com). I think so mainly because I know from my own persona that if I'll watch through the emails and don't see anything important besides ADS, I'll delete all the emails, without opening them. Plus, it is less time-consuming advertising on Social Media than on Email, because a single post gets to thousands or millions of people. And I didn't convince you yet, look at the biggest companies, how do they promote themselves? Email or Social Media Marketing?

Social media has become a major fixture in the online marketing landscape. It's easy to see why – Facebook, Twitter, and similar platforms make it easier than ever to share updates and promotions with a virtual crowd. Social media helps you grow your brand publicly, and it's gratifying to see people like and share your posts in real time.

Email, on the other hand, has been around for quite a bit longer. On the surface, it's less exciting than social media. If you underestimate the power of email, though, you could be seriously missing out. Email is still very much alive, and it's not going away anytime soon. In many ways, email is even more effective than its charismatic social media cousins.

Despite all this, social media does have one significant advantage over email: it offers the possibility of going viral. Your posts aren't restricted to your own network of followers. If someone shares your content, a certain number of their followers will see it too. Sometimes this can result in far more exposure than you'd get through email. But going viral isn't easy to do, so it's better not to count on that happening.

We’re talking in terms of total users instead of accounts so you can get an idea of the number of people. Accounts don’t make purchases, right? People do. But, if you’re interested, there are something like 8 billion email accounts (enough for every person in the world to have 1.55).

Also, every social media user has an average of 5.54 accounts. The most popular ones are exactly the ones you’d think: Facebook (by A LOT), Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, WhatsApp, etc.
Additionally, these email-first individuals are said to be more task-oriented online than the people who start their day on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. In other words, they are more likely to approach online interactions with specific goals in mind, like finding deals, promotions, or new product information.

But with the rise of mobile, consumers have ready access to both email and social media. This means that while users head to their email first, social media isn’t long after for those who use it.

So, perhaps a better measure of each platform’s marketing usefulness would be how consumers use the social media platform to communicate.

It turns out that 60% of consumers subscribe to a brand’s email list to receive promotional messages compared to 20% of consumers who will follow brands on social media to get deals. That’s great news for email marketers!

Social media marketing is the act of promoting content on social media channels, including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. Content should be tailored to the specifications of each channel to boost lead generation and increase brand awareness.

Email marketing is the process of leading prospects down the sales funnel by sending marketing materials directly to those who’ve subscribed to that content. For example, a fan of Adobe might sign up for their newsletters to catch promotional offers as they arrive.

Given you're trying to sell these services, you'll probably find it easier to communicate the value proposition of SEO rather than email marketing or social media, basically because you can get more tangible results with SEO and people cannot do it themselves. Most people really don't understand SEO and they know it.

What would you really achieve for a client through social media? You can actually do a lot but that's a very specific skill set (it's actually a content role) and actually way harder to add value than most realize. But people think it's easy and are reluctant to pay for it.

As for email marketing I almost never see that offered - it's typically something business owners or somebody in house do themselves.

To increase your organic reach on social media, people have to actually engage with your posts, and this can be difficult to accomplish. But with email, you can increase your inbox placement rate simply by following best practices to make sure your emails don’t go in the spam box.

I do suggest both. But social media like facebook can help you automate everything to reach the exact targeted people you seek. But one thing about social media marketing is that while people are on social media, they are mainly there for social pleasure so even if they see what they are interested in, most of them are not at that moment ready to look at it.

But email is more of a personal stuff. When people check their emails, they are taking it more personal. If you can find targeted emails, then email marketing will be great and better. But I think it is more of tasking to do email marketing than social media marketing.

While doing email marketing you also have to be careful to ensure you only offer value and leave the people to make their choice. If you sound like you are too salesy, they can always unsubscribe.
