View Full Version : Advice for a college student

02-19-2014, 03:20 PM
Hello fellow members, I joined this forum hoping the knowledgeable business men and women here would be able to give some advice to a college student. I am currently a second semester freshman with sophomore standing due to the amount of credits I have at Syracuse University, with Political Science and Business Management as my two selected majors. My question for you guys is: are there any classes you deem absolutely necessary to take at an Undergraduate level, if so why, and if you do not think any classes are necessary why not? To give you a little bit more background, I aspire to open my own law firm specializing in Corporate Law.

02-20-2014, 08:02 AM
I'm also a student managing a small business with a partner. :D
It's good that you're doing political science because that would be one of the recommended subjects for law in undergraduate programmes. But first of all, are you planning on going to a law school? Or are you going to try and just own a piece of the firm without being a lawyer?
If you are going to law school, it is not necessary that you take pre-law. I would recommend Political Science (which you already are taking), History and English. Law schools want to see their applicants think critically and have great communication skills. I found this link which might give you some tips on how to get started: http://www.businessinsider.com/how-i-started-my-own-law-firm-right-after-law-school-2014-1

Hope this helps!

Study hard don't ever think of it as high school. The amount of time you spent studying for high school classes tripple it!

Since you said you are going to do business related to laws, then it would surely be a good idea to take classes that give you more exposure on the subjects. Remember that your knowledge source is not limited from the lessons the university provides. Nowadays with internet, you can learn from almost anywhere and any time. Start searching for the related subjects and hopefully you could find a good knowledge source for your business.
One more thing to remember, grades are important, but do not let that be your only motive in university. The point of attending university besides receiving knowledge, is to make connection. Do not sacrifice your social life completely. This world has always been about "who" you know rather than "what" you know.

02-21-2014, 10:07 AM
College is where you are aligning yourself to the path where you would spend most of your professional life with so stay focused and acquire as many knowledge you could get and at the same time just enjoy it. And do not ever think that it is the end of it once you have received your parchment.. it is just the start of a more challenging journey so you better stay on track.

As to the course/classes, I think you have chosen the right course for your pre-law and yes, I agree with the rest of the posters here.

Good luck.

I do plan on going to law school, I went business and political science undergrad to show a diverse background and due to personal interests. I have heard that law schools do not care what your undergrad majors are unless you can not apply them to law whatsoever. My career interests are to be a corporate lawyer, but I plan to dabble in the financial sector on my own (mainly stock-market and short term investments).

02-24-2014, 11:26 AM
You said you were going to be involved in corporate law, I would recommend an accounting class. At least a basic one. Accounting is the language of business! :0)

02-25-2014, 04:48 AM
I can only speak for myself as a graduate of a business course, so take my comment with a grain of salt, but my opinion is that the most and probably the only important thing in business is experience, so I'd say the most important class would be on the job training or the internship more than anything else. Like I said, I don't know many of the specifics when it comes to law classes, so there might be some that would still prove to be beneficial, as I don't mean that they are all unnecessary, just that I think the most necessary is the part where you experience first hand what it feels like to be in a running business and to see how they operate.

02-25-2014, 07:12 AM
I'd probably say Accounting. But maybe also Philosophy or Economics

A college education is very rich and interesting, I think many students like it, if we talk about some difficulties, I have been writing research papers at UK PapersOwl (https://uk.papersowl.com/research-paper-writing-service) for a long time, this work that needs to be written once a year, but in general everything else was good.

nice share thanks for providing such nice information

In fact, if we have already talked about a lawyer. I can advise a site with good lawyers https://www.jaeleelaw.com/ . Somehow got into a car accident. I was looking for a lawyer to solve somehow competently this question and not to go to jail. And I helped the lawyer from this site. I highly recommend:cool:

Hello to all college students! I want to share my experience with you and give you useful advice that will make your studies easier. During my college years, the most difficult task for me was writing an essay. I spent a lot of time and nerves on it. But then my friend advised me to use essay service drwritemyessay.com (https://drwritemyessay.com/blog/argumentative-essay) and I am grateful to him for such valuable advice. I found on their site a lot of useful articles about how to write an argumentative essay. In addition, the essay service drwritemyessay can, within 6 hours, write a quality essay for little money. They help students around the world!

Everyone here is speaking of law related disciplines. That’s absolutely right. But let’s consider the problem from another viewpoint. What if you become a successful businessman and your company grows internationally? You may face problems connected with communication with foreigners. I’m working for a French company and you know what? The French don’t want to learn English! And those who know it are reluctant to speak it! This is why I’d like to add studying foreign languages to all other useful recommendations you’ve received in this thread. The knowledge of foreign languages is not just a skill – it’s a valuable asset, the more so if finding a tutor (https://eurekly.com/subject/french) has become so easy nowadays. Good luck!

What a great question. It feels like I just graduated but at the same time it's been so long! I'm not sure I have any specific classes in mind, but based on my own experience working in a small firm since I graduated college, I would suggest taking writing classes--beyond the required introductory, intensive writing classes. Take some creative writing classes (even if you don't like writing/wouldn't think you were great at writing). Writing really improves your communication, and business is all about establishing connections and needing to be able to communicate. Plus, in most writing classes, you're also required to read a lot, which I hear is great practice for lawyers since they have to do a lot of reading and studying of laws.

I would also suggest a business law class, if you're school has one. I took an ethics class geared toward businesses and it covered a lot of laws pertaining to business. It was really interesting and I feel that it would be beneficial to you since you want to own your own law firm one day.

Honestly though, some of the best knowledge I gained came from experience and personal research. If I was interested in something, I researched it and read about it or ask people who I knew were in that field. School is great, but it never beats personal curiosity. Because it seems like we retain what we're truly interested in and not what people are forcing us to know.

For example, I found this article the other day about things to think about when buying a business. I know it may not be completely applicable since you want to own your own law firm, but I thought the points they were making were really good and could be used to think about your own business (What should my finances look like? How reliant should my business be on me? Etc.) https://sigmamergers.com/things-to-consider-when-acquiring-a-business/ (https://sigmamergers.com/things-to-consider-when-acquiring-a-business/)

I hope this helps!

I would advise you to start learning from c++. I think its the most commonly used programming language. At the last time I learned coding at AssignCode (https://assigncode.com/) and I really can say that now I become a specialist with excellence in every technical task by c++ coding. I think it will be useful when you do your first steps.

Friends, I need help writing essayin a college on the topic of Ecology and ways to more carefully treat a person to nature and resources. I am currently working with the best writing websites (https://www.essayuniverse.net/best-essay-writing-services/), which is very active in helping me with literature on the topic and excellent insights. Case studies are some of the most complex and demanding essays to write. Case study research is time consuming and requires extensive knowledge of the field you are researching. When creating case studies you must develop a research strategy and include as much technical data and statistics as possible.

I'm a student too

Advice? If you decide to use writing services then don't pick the first you find. Go and read reviews because some of such firms are better to avoid.

Of course you do not need to choose the first thing that comes across. You can ask your classmates or classmates. So I found a page with topics for persuasive speech https://wr1ter.com/persuasive-speech-topics when I needed to write my essay. I just asked classmates where they get their essay.

The eternal problem is where is education better. In my opinion, Europe has always been a leader in education. After all, all the most honorable and titled higher educational institutions are concentrated here. I study in
The University of Applied Sciences Bonn-Rhine-Sieg is a nuclear chemist, so I can say with confidence that it was Germany that made a big breakthrough in this direction. I can give you an example of a resource that will convince you that it is in Germany that the entire educational center in Europe is concentrated - MyGermanUniversity (https://www.mygermanuniversity.com/).

I've never written a dissertation, but I think that it's a tough paper to write. If you need help, you can use a service called wr1ter. I use it sometimes when I have trouble because it offers 100 % original text with 0% plagiarism. Also, I like the blog posts on its' page. There I find out new info. For example, a few days ago, I came across an interesting article about rhetorical analysis sample essays, and it was useful for me to find out such info. If you're interested, here https://wr1ter.com/rhetorical-analysis-sample; you can also read that post. Maybe it'll be helpful for you.

Hi everyone. Perhaps written help for students from various services can be useful in some points, but it is still preferable for me to give my daughter a good knowledge, so I am critical of this kind of help. I think that it is better to use proven online courses for training and with the choice of professional Tutors helps me information on this site review https://edureviewer.com/tutoring/vipkid-review/. So I recommend that all applicants study this article at the link.

The best advice I can give to college students is to get all the help you need. It's a scary world out there and without any knowledge or help it will just come to failure. For starting a business, it would be wise to have support and training. That is where franchises are perfect to have. Go for things you are passionate about. If you're into caregiving, then I recommend CareAgape Senior Homes (https://www.careagapeseniorhomes.com/).

Finish your studies and aim for the best!

Hi! How do you like the weather outside? I have a great one! And I don't want to waste these precious warm days on essays. I decided to find a website for help in writing an essay on the Internet, it turned out to be a difficult task. But I saw most of the positive reviews from papers writers (https://www.paperwritingpro.com/). They had already written the first essay and my teacher was satisfied and gave me an excellent grade.

I started having problems with written homework when I started combining work and study. I didn't have much free time so that I could write an essay or do research papers on time, so I decided to find a writer for my essays and found special site for this. It seems to me that this is the easiest and fastest way to find the person you need who is good at writing and can have the necessary knowledge in this subject, so your essay will be well written and informative. If you're interested, then try using a site like this (https://essaytoolbox.com/essay-writer) . This is a really good way to get such work done quickly and at an affordable price.

If someone else gets your writing tasks done, I think that it is not the best way to approach your education process. I mean, it is fine to look for some inspiration browsing through others' writing tasks but ordering papers is ok only if you just can't handle the task because you have some much more important things to do. I used an army sop example (https://pay4homework.com/write-army-sop/) once because I didn't know all the formatting rules. Even though I had an opportunity to just pay for this task, I decided to complete it myself to learn something new because acquiring new skills is the main purpose of education.

I just asked classmates where they get their essay.

When i need help with coursework (https://www.essaygeeks.co.uk/coursework/) i usually google some sites which could do that for me. I use them only for that university assignments which needed to be 100% unique. Also it could be a great idea to do some research and find different articles then take a piece of each to make your own one

The PhD student-advisor relationship is unlike any other professional relationship I can think of. Beyond the obvious requirements that advisors don’t break the law or contravene institutional policies, there are remarkably few constraints or guidelines on how they should behave, and equally few penalties if they act in ways that lead to the abuse or misuse of their advises. And as a result, PhD students can find themselves in relationship where their advisor has all the power, and they have none. Many, probably most, PhD advisors recognize this, and work hard to prevent this power-differential from adversely affecting their students. But without clear or enforceable guidelines on acceptable and unacceptable practices, even well-meaning advisors can get things horribly wrong. And while they may see this as all part of their own personal learning curve, the effects on their students can be devastating, and in some cases, lifelong.

I've been thinking a lot about my learning process and about further steps of my potential career, and I also think that universities should make supportive conditions for students and to help them in choosing the right courses and studies, that will lead them to the necessary and wanted PhD field of business. I like this article about PhD In Sociology applicability (https://www.discoverphds.com/advice/after/phd-in-sociology) cause it shows comprehensive data about how many students occupy each sphere of business after they graduate.

I completely agree with you. I really believe that the better you do in college or university, the better you will achieve in future. I wasn't the best student, but I tried to get the most out of what college gave me. I tried to develop my skills in order to get the best GPAs for me. I've always had hard time with writing good writing assignments, and the first time I turned to the professionals at EssayEdge (https://www.essayedge.com/) for help. These guys help edit and proofread student texts. They helped me improve my writing skills so that after my sophomore year of college, I could write an excellent and meeting the requirements essay for any subject. It really came in handy for me in the future.

During your college life Don't ever forget about doing an internship in your field like as a computer science student I'm doing a JavaScript developer internship through EngineersConnect (https://engineersconnect.com/internships/). Totally happy as I was selected based on my skills not on my marks

I know that college students also have another problem - a lot of homework. The site can help with this problem.

It's a support for all students who don't want to write long essays and for those who dislike writing this page. Not everybody usually loves writing. Writing isn't an easy job. All needs assistance that would be trustworthy and worth providing. You need to do these helpful tips (https://proessayhelp.co.uk/blog/creative-essay/). Both the issues are solved on this website and you will get the best writing assistance for the job here and you will select the writing services by taking feedback of the services with which people offer such services.

As a student, I can advise you on a great time for legal solutions. I know that many people have divorce problems. In that case, you should use a divorce lawyer in vancouver (https://www.ganapathico.com/) . These are professional lawyers who do everything cool. I recommend giving it a try.

Good afternoon! I perfectly understand those people who do work for a very long time. It's hard to do the same thing all the time. Every day the work becomes more boring and it becomes more difficult to concentrate. I turn to the guys on the site https://typemyessays.com/percentage-calculator, they do all the calculations for me.

When I was in college, the main problem for me was transporting important things to another city. I could not find a good and inexpensive company in this sphere and my friend advised me to contact https://movablewa.com/ . I was pleasantly surprised by the large number of positive reviews about this company and I recommend their services to all my friends

Guys! It is very good to use a writing service to take writing help to write an essay. I also use these services very frequently and love to use this. You can also try https://www.ihatewritingessays.com/safe-essay-services. This is my favorite service and gives the best quality write up. It has a good privacy policy also.
