My social media strategy is to either or both:

-Create a community surrounding the business

-Be a source of helpful and interesting information

It's not just about selling stuff. Unless the product or service is so awesome or innovative or enough of a novelty to get that "I NEED THIS" reaction.

Social media is social, it's about connecting with people.

But that said, having a presence on Facebook is important for us because Facebook and Google are the new phone books and people search for things they need there!

For example, don't run ads on Facebook that would be better for Google adwords. As an example, if you own an auto shop and want to run a campaign for an oil change promotion, Facebook wouldn't be the best bet because you can't target people that are actively searching for "oil change near me" or "best oil change" etc!

Facebook ads REALLY excel when you leverage their advanced targeting features such as purchase behaviors, interests. Also one of the BEST things about Facebook is lookalike audiences. If you have a past customer/lead list, uploading it into Facebook and creating a lookalike audience can really help you skip the testing phase with targeting and get your content in front of the right people/demographic.

Talking about social media.. I had a goal to get a lot of youtube subscribers on my channel to spread my content all around the world, but I could do that just by myself as youtube doesn't work so good if speaking of raising account activity just by urself. My first goal was to get 2k subscribers but I was stuck on 500 subscribers for a while and could not break that point. I was wondering why, but time was passing and I couldn't stand watching it being still.
