I am thinking about establishing my own brand of clothes. And i want it to be nice and expensive kind (think abercrombie, Eddie Bauer). Pretty much, i am willing to sacrafice few customer, but charge extra for the BRAND NAME and be KNOWN for brand.

My question:
is it better to start off not as expensive brand, and attract customers? But i am afraid that word 'cheap' will attach to my BRAND reputation and to change that i would have to re-market everything from scratch...

or

Brand and market my product as 'elite' and expensive, and lose customers but slowly build reputation of high class value?

I wonder if Sacks Fifth was cheap at some point when they first started?

I think you should do sustainable clothes, because it's a bomb right now and you can get very good sales if you will try to do it

New customers cost you more If you're a small business, you need to save money anywhere you can. It costs five times more to acquire a new customer than it does to keep a current customer. Bringing that new customer to the spending level of your current customers costs 16 times more.
