I've been an estetician for 4 years. Skin care is my passion :D I'm trying to build up my clientele and it's very difficult.

I have some money to put toward advertising but definately can't go hiring an agency. I'm printing flyers and cards. Mostly I need to get out there and talk to people, but I'm having a hard time coming up with unique ideas.

I'm based out of Longwood at Goldfingers Facial Salon. I have men and women to come in for facials. But of course my target audience would be women. Anyone have suggestions????

My recommendation is definitely to do the advertising yourself. Sales work is a good idea. Have something to leave behind. I would recommend having something that is easily visible and easy to keep. Postcard or business card size is always good. In many cases, flyers tend to go in the trash at a quicker rate. It is always good to offer a discount.

One way to keep your name posted is to print business card magnets and distribute them to businesses. Think about where your clients would come from. MDs? If so, go visit MD offices and give them a pile of magnets. They can distribute these to their clients. MD offices generally like to have free stuff sitting around. In many cases, it makes their patients happy. :)

I would avoid costly newspaper or radio ads. Another good way to promote is within. Ask your current clientele if they have any referrals. You could offer them a promotional discount or free gift for each one of their referrals.

Hi Mary,

I have a marketing & advertising company, I would suggest for your type of business that you try targeting new brides and wedding parties. There are lots of soon to be brides with one major wish that their skin will be clear and beautiful for their big day, plus they have bridesmaids wanting the same thing. You could find some wedding shows in your area to rent some space at as well as advertising in their show brochures. I would approach these by setting up a free clinic type booth where soon to be brides could sit down in front of a mirror, while you discuss their skin health with them and you can have the sample some of your products. Possible they could have a free 1 to 2 mintue consultation with you. Many of these brides could become lifelong customers.

Also teenagers I would think would be a target market, you could set up a free clinic for them, or give away samples at other events. Another great idea is to talk to a local high schools and see if you can't participate in their health class by giving a discussion on skincare.

Setting up small clinics in local shopping areas, a mall cart could great for this sort of thing.

Most of all as a small business you need to be involved in the community as much as possible or as much as you feel comfortable. Think about ways in which you can contribute to the community through your business and in more personal ways. Deceide in what ways you would like to participate, but do it honestly don't do things just for the sake of selling your buiness. People trust people they know especially someone from their own community. You want them to say yeah, there's go Mary, the skin care lady, if you have a skin issue she's the one to talk. This kind of word of mouth is the very best advertising you'll ever get.

Mary, I hear Banner Exchange Is Good, I Joined A Few And Started One Myself, in any search engine, type banner exchange program, i cant put links here showing any favouring, there are a few better ones then the rest, just be careful ok, I Found They Do Over Time, Increase Trraffic To Your Site.
