Hello,

I was just wondering, suppose I wanted to start a ebay based business- and wanted to incorperate it in Canada, would I have to do so provincially, or federally (since- I'll be selling to people in the US)

Also, do you even recommend incorperating for an ebay based business?

I'm aware that im barely getting my feet wet with starting a home based business, so please dont take my questions as naive ''quick fix'' seekers.

thank you.

I would suggest that it depends on what you are selling.

Advertising your goods on a website in any location, via eBay or any other site (assuming they are legal) is not usually an issue. Exporting the products you sell MAY be an issue.

For most items it probably won't be, but there are certain goods which require import/export licenses, or which are controlled in some way, or which present other import/export difficulties.

You probably need to research the specific market you are operating in with respect to this.

Regarding incorporation, bear in mind that trading carries risk. The main reasons many small businesses incorporate are:
- to present a more professional front
- to protect their personal assets should anything go askew.

As someone who has tried and failed for the most part to sell on E-bay, I think it has a lot to do with location first off. Here in Ireland the whole E-bay thing has never taken off, but you hit the U.K and it's a different story all together. Supply and demand for whatever you are offering people is a must, along with the price point; Can you give someone a better price than going to the abundance of products coming from China?

What is it you plan on selling exactly?

Will check back with you in a bit.

I am quite certain that in order to use Ebay internationally its as simple as a check mark in a box, and they handle the rest. That is under shipping settings. I use ebay to supplement my income, but nothing to even be considered a home business. I would highly recommend it for gas money, tough times here in southern California.

According to me it will totally depends upon type of product you are selling. You will have to take care about location, people etc.

On the "Pick a posting structure" page, in the "sell your thing structure," select More posting decisions (long structure). On the Create your posting page, look to the "Give purchasers postage subtleties" segment and snap Add or expel choices. Under "Global postage," select Show worldwide administrations and choices. Snap Save.
