That's one perspective Julio, but many people will disagree with some of your assumptions (including myself). Some of these simply do not apply to most home based businesses.

It sounds so easy and beautiful. Maybe thats why there are so many vain efforts for some kind of home business. Let us think for a while: On the Internet your competitor is the whole world. Let us make a little experiment: put any kind of key word in any search engine. You will see a millions of results. Review only the firs 100 of them and see how many of them are real big corporate sites and how many are home web pages.

Believe me, the consumer of our service will not look forward to finding your web page, he will buy from the big company. So you may have the best idea, very good realisation, but nobody will never hear about this. Otherwise creating real home business you can be sure that at least your neighbours will know about this.

For our regret the things are not as easy as it looks like sometimes.

Hi all,
This is my first post here, I would like to share this letter with you.

"A Millionaires Secret"

Washington DC was nasty as could be. As I sat on the bench waiting for my
bus to arrive I couldn't wait to get back to the backwoods of Louisiana. I
had almost sat in a pool of blood that was on the far end of the bench and
I was ready to go. I truly hope people coming to visit our country don't
make DC one of their stops.

Anyway, before my bus arrived I was approached by a nicely dressed elderly
gentleman in need of directions. I told him I had no idea what he was
looking for as I too was just passing through. To this day I'm not sure
why, but we started talking as if we had known each other for years.

We talked about life, people and eventually the conversation turned to
business. It was here that the gentlemen saw something in me, I suppose,
that made him feel like sharing what he said was the greatest secret ever
told. He said everyone had heard it but almost no one paid any attention
to it, even though it was the one thing that could bestow a fortune upon
any man or woman who used it.

My ears where definitely starting to perk up. Something about his tone
told me this man knew from whereof he spoke. And I wanted to know what the
secret was with a passion. He must have sensed my anxiousness because at
that very moment he gave me a warning that was almost a scolding.

I'll try to recount here as best I can the rest of our conversation...

Man: "Do not make the mistake of shrugging off what I am about to tell you
because you have heard it before. No doubt you have heard it already from
at least one person in your life. You may have even heard it many times.
Do you have any aversion to religion Mr. Says?"

Me: "No I don't. I don't believe many preachers know what they are talking
about or even what they are trying to teach, but I do know the Bible has a
lot of great knowledge in it."

Man: "Good. I would not want you to discount what I am about to tell you
because it does come directly from the Bible. But its applications reach
far beyond what most people can conceive of. It will take thought, intense
pondering on your part, to begin to get some inkling of its power."

"This simple secret, when applied to business, will draw money to you as
easily as water runs down a mountain. Even a fool can apply it and
prosper. When applied to relationships, it will create more friends than
you can handle" (laughing heartily)

Me: "What is it, I'm dying to know now?"

Man: "Patience Mr. Says, Patience. I will not give it to you as it has
always been repeated by fools who have no respect or knowledge of what it
even means. No. I will give it to you another way."

"What type of business are you interested in?"

Me: "Well, I'm dabbling in Mail Order right now. I would like to place ads
and sell books."

Man: "Fine. Fine. Mail Order it is. Let me tell you how to create a
fortune in this Mail Order. All you have to do is create the product you
want to buy"

Me: "I don't understand"

Man: "You will"

"You see, "you are your market". Whatever you want, there are millions of
other people wanting the same thing. That elusive product you are looking
for is the product millions of others are also looking for right now."

"All you have to do is "create the product you want to buy", the product
you yourself have been looking for. Once you have this product, what would
you want the sales message to say so that you know this is the product you
have been looking for?"

"If someone else where selling this product, what would you want the ad to
say, what would get you to buy this product?. When you have that answer,
that is the ad you want to create."

Me: "I see" (hesitantly)

Man: "See the business across the street here? Pizza. I could triple the
business that place does inside of 10 minutes. That's what I do by the
way" (smiling)

"All I would do is walk into the business "as a customer". I would sit
there and imagine all the things that could be done to me that would make
me a loyal customer to that business for life. What could they do for me
that would make me feel this way?"

"Once I had the answers to that question, I would implement them across
the board. Every customer would be treated the way I had imagined. And
without any doubt what so ever that business would triple the profits it
now makes."

Me: "I think I know..."

Man: "Wait, you don't really know anything yet. That's the problem with
people. They brush something off because of where it came from or because
they heard it many times. Leave that for fools. You won't "know it" until
you have deeply pondered it and put it to use."

Me: "OK"

Man: "What I am telling you has power undreamed of. The simple words used
to describe it cannot contain it. Does not do justice to it, and has been
prostituted by blabber mouths who let wisdom fall off their lips with not
even a single brain cell grasping what they are rambling about."

"What I am telling you is Law, not man's Law, but the very Law's of nature
herself. It's the way things work and those who truly understand it rise
to the top in every field known to man."

"What people don't understand is that it applies to everything. This
secret can be applied with virtually every step you take, everything you
do, every word you speak and everyone concerned profits by it."

"If you are a writer, write like you would like to be written to"
"If you are a salesman, sell like you would like to be sold to"
"If you are a speaker, speak like you would like to be spoken to"
"If you want more love, then love like you would like to be loved"
"If you want more friends, be the friend you would like to see"

"When you infuse everything you do with this secret it takes on a magical
power. Businesses dominate the market, books become best sellers, leaders
attract huge and loyal followings."

"How would you like it?"
"How would you respond to it?"
"How would it make you feel?"

"Those are great questions to think about every time you do or create
something. You will get into the hearts and minds of everyone who comes
under your influence if you will first think how you would have it done to
you."

"I'm certain you already know the quote from the Bible I'm referring to.
But don't repeat it, just ponder it and practice it."

Me: "I do. But I've never thought of how it could actually apply to
everything in life. I too was one of those fools who passed it over
without so much as a second thought. I really want to thank you for
sharing this with me."

Man: "It's been a real pleasure talking with you Mr. Says, have a safe
journey home."

-----------

And with that, he was gone. The funny thing was, as I was riding home on
the bus I realized I never got his name, nor do I remember ever giving him
mine. Maybe he saw my luggage tag. I'm not sure. It really doesn't matter.
What does matter is that I've profited from that advice for the last 15
years.

I'm not even really any good at it either and I've still pulled in huge
amounts of money. Especially from the Internet. This is one place this
knowledge can really shine. People have always asked me my secret. How
come the Warriors is still here, with the same products, with all this
competition, after all these years?

This one simple secret is the answer. I always ask myself how would I like
to be treated by this company What would I like to see? What would I like
to get? How would I like to be dealt with?

Those simple questions are all you have to answer. When you do get the
answers, put them into action and watch what happens.

Create The Site You've Been Looking For

Sell Like You Would Like To Be Sold To

Thanks for this! It really helps a lot. It's hard to start up a business, and the internet seems to be the best way to start for most businesses. I really would like to start a DIY blog, and would like to try and make at least a little profit off of it. I know it will be hard, but this post helps a lot! Thanks!

I completely agree with you BusinessMan. I don't think that those steps are completely relevant to most home based businesses. Every one is different and their approach and strategy should be tailored to their own business, work ethic, and personal style. I have no idea where these 'steps' come from, but they sound like they were written for a scam site.

Each person will take the necessary steps to run and operate their own home base business. What works for one may not work so well for another. Be realistic and make a list of short term goals and long term goals. Start with the short term goals and it will make it easier to reach the long term goals. Also, stay positive that it will work out for you!

I feel that unless a person is gonna hire someone to do typing for them or web design then, and update site information, some pretty good computer knowledge is needed. It sounds very easy but I will be honest. I've been an internet marketer for about three years and i've learned enough to know that a person can have a great website but if there is no traffic and quality content, the site is just a sitting duck. Many have had great ideas and an attractive site but what will a person do to get people to spend money? In my opinion the information makes it sound so easy but it is not. Great content, products that are in high demand, and SEO are key. One thing I will agree on is that there are a lot of ways to create a great online business at low cost. There are a lot of great advantages in having a home based business but there is still a lot of sweat and time needed to build that business.

LindaKay
01-21-2014, 02:59 PM
I really don't agree. I think you need knowledge. Most importantly, you need passion. To say that you only need four hours a day to dedicate to your home-based business is pure crap. You have to dedicate a LOT more than that if you want to be successful.

smartmom
01-24-2014, 11:52 AM
This does make it sound easy and I agree with some of this. I honestly feel that computer and website building skills are necessary. There are millions of sites out here and if a persons site is not attractive then, the business is just a needle in a haystack. I love the fact however that you mention the places that you suggest people should advertise their business. I do not feel a person has to put a lot of money into and online business but I do feel that traffic and a great idea is what's need to be successful.

Just to address some of your outline here if I can.

If you want a business to get off the ground in its first year, then you are going to have to spend a hell of a lot longer t it than 4-5 hours a day. The first year as many will tell you is by far the hardest, so putting all you can muster into getting it off the ground level is a must.

As for renting a place goes; I think they call that a mortgage - so it's really the same thing. So if you want to keep paying back the money to the banksters every month, you're going to want to shift as much of your product as you can. Have a look locally for places to sell your proucts like public events or markets, which are a great place to get your name about.

I don't know that home-based businesses are that easily. Of course they can be. If you want to have a good product there really isn't any difference from working at an office to working at home. It can take just as much of a time commitment or sometimes even more. A lot of people do things like Web Design from home. It takes a very long time to do well and a lot of commitment. Especially when you are just getting started.

Unfortunately, people have been spoiled.... or we were, now we must work harder, longer, AND completely outside of the box! There surly is a ton of opportunity for anything you want, if you're willing to put in the work. The first 5 years of any adventure, whether it be a business, a relationship or maybe just a step back from the life you had is an uphill road. Plan to work 24/7 to get a business off the ground, especially if your dealing with the www! If you want a physical business outside www then you better be prepared to work at least 12 hour days 7 days a week outside the home. There simply is TOO much competition and simply SOO much red tape that it takes A LOT of passion and dedication to persevere to Business Owner! Good luck to us all!

I doubt 4-5 hours a day is enough to achieve success. I find myself spending more hours on my business than a person working a 9 to 5 office job. The rewards are definitely worth it though. Basic computer skills can only take you so far. In my opinion, you need to be knowledgeable in many areas in order to build your brand name. For example, I had to teach myself HTML, CSS and graphics design in order to create a website that is visually appealing to visitors.

I agree that the barriers to entry in starting a home-based business is relatively low. It's as simple as starting a blog on blogger. However, the hard part comes after that. It usually take years of effort before you finally see results.

With the Website programs that are available now, either for free or for a pretty reasonable cost it's fairly easy to create a great looking Website for a person's business these days. I've started a nice Website working an affiliate program, but I think one of the biggest hurdles is driving traffic to your site. I'm just taking things one step at a time. I want to gather some more information as far as advertising and I agree with smartmom because it does cost money to advertise. I'm just going to check out some various one's and see what I can get on a very low advertising budget, at least to start out with anyway.

I do think owning a website is important, but instead of going for paid ads I prefer to establish a customer and obtaining visibility through big sites like ebay or amazon.

Personally I keep a website so that I can advertise it to people who buy from me on ebay in the hopes that they will order from my site in the future avoiding me the extra fees.

For example, let's say I sold a fishing reel on ebay and am paying 10% in fees + $0.12 listing fee. I now need to send the item to the buyer, who doesn't trust me yet, but probably will as soon as he gets it. With this in mind I leave a small 10% discount voucher inside the envelope which he can use on his next order directly from my website.

This way, I avoid having to put thousands of products up on ebay and paying fees for them, and if the customer keeps coming back, I will be making an extra profit of 10% past his 3rd visit. So yeah, having a website is good, investing in SEO and online ads is not really that good for small home businesses. I'd rather share my profits with ebay for a while and get in direct contact with potential buyers than to spend money on targeted ads that may or may not generate any revenue.

I believe Forex is the ultimate home based business. You can trade 24 hours a day so it doesn't matter where you are in the world. There's no employees, no stock to hold, no commuting to work. It's just you, your trading software and a computer. Once you are proficient the rewards can be massive. If you live in the United Kingdom you have the added bonus of not having to pay any tax. Some traders have even moved to the UK so they can take advantage of this. Most countries will however give you a tax break of some sort.

itís safe to say that there is a lot of demand for information on how to make money on the internet. This also means that there are a lot of shady characters preying on this group of people.I knew someone who fell for one of these scams once. they taught him how to make money online, and then all he did was sell seminars on how to make money online. The fact that he had never actually made any money online was beside the pointÖ I guess. Not surprisingly, Iím not a big supporter of his business.

It appears really simple and stunning. Probably thats exactly why we're all those futile attempts for a certain type of household enterprise. The key to success is patience and hard-working. Also, it's important to do what you like. For example, I am passionate about esports and decided to do money on it. Do you actually know how big is esports industry now? It's a great opportunity to start earning on esports betting, especially if you are an expert in this area. Home-based businesses are booming now with the help of the internet. It makes everything faster and hassle-free. But creating an home-based business is not easier as actual land-based ones. It will also need the same efforts and work to succeed.

The most crucial among firm, especially online or home-based, is marketing. Reaching your target market will be the chaotic part of growing a business. For home-based, you must do everything to reach your customers. For instance, you can utilize the internet and social media sites to be visible to the public. Proper website/social media handling may lead to success. You may seek help from web experts or service providers to assist you while you do your stuff.

Another pivotal step is establishing a business plan and business strategy. Not because you are home-based does not mean you are exempted in doing so. Make sure that the business plan will contain every aspect including financial and plan B's in case of unfortunate events happening. Establishing a business strategy will be your guiding platform as you take the road towards business growth. Usually, owners meet unnecessary decisions or ideas along the way. It will help you stay on the right track and avoid things that will get your attention, focus, and efforts on the business. During fall backs, you may also come back to your business strategy or plan to resolve the issue. But strategies may also change from time to time depending on the changes in trend and demands. You'll just have to make sure that the changes you commit will not be a door to your business' failure.
