Donating profits - how to handle returns
I am looking into donating all profits from sales made during a specific timeframe to a specific cause. But, I need to determine how to handle returns.

Would it be unethical of me to tell buyers that during this timeframe, I can only accept exchanges?

If I sell an item for $40 that cost me $20, then $20 is donated.
When the item is returned, I am theoretically -$40 until someone else buys the item.

Has anyone else donated their profits? How did you handle returns?

    This can be straight forward:
    1) How long is the return period, assuming you are allowing 30 days from the date of purchase/sale. Then, you can donate after 30 days.
    2) Alternatively, donate immediately after the sale, any return will be offset against future sale before the next donation.

You do not need a sophisticate software to do this, open your spreadsheet and input your formula to compute monthly or daily profit automatically, you can also put '30 days' rule into it.

Since much has already been said about whether gifts should be returned upon a request by a donor, I want to focus on whether a nonprofit organization can legally return a donation. I'm not a lawyer. So, I decided to contact one. ... Under certain circumstances, nonprofit organizations can refund a donor's contribution
