    Hi,
Whether you need a business license will depend on your state / city so you should check with your local city council. You will need to obtain a sellers permit from the state as you will be responsible for the sales tax which will be collected on applicable orders. To actually start the shop just go to the etsy website and click on the sell on etsy link then follow the instructions. You mentioned you had t-shirt designs you have made, by that do you mean you have designed them or have gone out and actually had them printed on t-shirts ready to sell? If it is the first you may want to look into different platforms than etsy, there are several websites you can submit designs to that print and ship for you and you dont need to worry about sales tax with these as they handle everything and pay you commission on every sale.
    Hope that helps!

I think you should try Magento. It's popular than Etsy and easy to use.
If you aren't procrastinate, it's okay to work from home. Anw, you should ask your friend about your idea. You can never walk alone!

You can start you own e commerce website easily to sell t-shirt. I would suggest you can go for magneto website , by the way word press in not bad . With e-commerce plugin you can publish your products. You not need to license just register your store, if you grow as compare to competitor there is chance of getting funding .. I came across a website webbywebb this is really a great website that provide tech news and earn through affiliate

    Visit : http://webbywebb.com/

There are many free web site packages online. This looks to be reasonably easy to you and may be of use https://www.wix.com/ecommerce/website And I don't have any connections to them.
But give it a go. I started at home back in 1979 and now have a 'bricks and mortar' display area as well as a https://www.leisurebuildings.com web site which I write myself. And enjoy as I love the coding aspect of it but you don't need to do that. Good luck.
