These days you'll consider yourself lucky if you get as much as 100 site visitors from digg.
I think the time for digg, stumbleupon etc, is gone. We should think about other ways to promote our sites.
Things has changed now especially in SEO (internet world). We must learn to adapt to changes. Like now, social bookmarking, directory submission and article submission is not anymore effective. The techniques mentioned are most likely to be considered as link scheme now.

Periods have modified I believe. There was a moment when publishing having a piece of writing on digg's first web page could boost to 170,000 individuals your web page within a day or if you were not that fortunate, you could still get some visitors from them.

I've still managed some big hits on StumbleUpon, but it often delivers basically zero traffic and I'm not really sure how valuable the traffic is.

Content curation isnít just about using other peopleís content, as curation is often used to source topics, industry news, and ideas for creating unique content. Content curation applies to many parts of the Internet including social media platforms like Twitter, blogs, company websites, newsletters, and even picture sharing sites like Instagram. There are hundreds of tools you can use for content curation, and some of them are more helpful than others. Some are also free, while others cost a great deal such as: Google Alerts, Google News Feeds, RSS, Lists, It, Storify by LiveFyre, HooteSuite, FlipBoard, Microsoft Sway. One-third of your content should be interacting with your niche, your readers, and your influencers, it can also boost your social media marketing efforts. Sharing content shows your readers, other industry experts, and potential clients that youíre familiar with your industry, interested in it, and are willing to work with others. Over time, adding content into your social media, blog, and newsletter will also draw the people who want to read that content.
