    I know this is an old thread, but my take is it's good to have a combination of nofollow and dofollow links, as this appears more natural. Most social media backlinks are nofollow, but I believe they build trust and authority with search engines.

    At first glance, no-follow bonds may seem like a poison pill but do not be too quick to refuse a no-follow bond or worse, get angry about anyone with you.

    A nofollow connection may not put your site closer to the first page of search results for Google instantly, but it will be helpful.

    No, this link still works like a normal hyperlink. Do you know that #1 ranked web pages on Google have an average of about 20%-40% no-follow links pointing to that page? So my answer is no.
