If you want to remove any bad back links, please send mail to that website's owner in a polite manner if the mail id if available. Other wise please use disavow tool in web master tools. Note the bad links and tell google to block that bad links so that we can block negative seo effect from google.

The position is in good place already, are sure you want to remove it. You can use 301 permanent to redirect to what page you'd like. In sometime it will be replace to the one you previously redirected.

Create profiles by targeting that negative term. Update those profiles regularly.
Create social media profiles with the same name for which negative review is appearing.
Create blogging profiles on websites like wordpress, blogger, tumblr etc. Update them from time to time with good content
Do interlinking of all the profiles that you have created to bring down that negative search term.
If you do all these things properly then it will help in bringing down those negative search results from SERPs and display positive search results.
