Using Postcards for Lead Generation in the B2B Space
Does anyone have any experience in using postcards as a lead generation tool for b2b marketing. Our prospective market is small consulting firms and while we had great success with Adwords on Google it just got too expensive.

Our plan was to use postcards with the call to action to visit our website to request a free report.

Any one have metrics or experience in using postcards this way?

    Thanks

As with any Direct Marketing campaign the gold is in the follow up. Yes, it is good to offer a discount but a phone call assists in building customer trust. Also an oversized postcard works well in capturing your prospects attention!

Anything to do with marketing is going to cost you some cash in the ppc's. I use post card marketing with very good results.

I've had great results using direct mail postcards. What I find most effective is a set of 3 postcards sent 3 weeks apart, with a phone call follow up a week after each one is sent.

Without phone call follow up, my response rate is about 8%; with follow up, it jumps to about 25%.

I know this may be al ittle late - but this may keep cost down.

Postcards are very good, ideally they should be capable of being pinned or posted on or around the recipient's work point.

When looking to get the cards printed, try and get them printed on the surplus edges of somebody else's print run. ie the plates or set up includes both your and their print job.

The main client is already paying for the waste card, all you pay is the extra consumables/ink and set up.

There is a co in the UK that brokers the sale of this surplus space!

    Good luck.

Any direct mail campaign; postcard or otherwise is only going to be as good as the list you buy, rent or steal.

A campaign is preferred, affordability can be an issue there. But you will be better off sending 4 postcards to 25% of your list than sending 1 postcard to 100% of your list. Or save more money by buying a smaller list.

A personal follow up is crucial in b2b business. Phone them a couple of days after your first post card goes out. Anyone who grants you a meeting take of your list for future mailings (save a few trees and dollars in the process)

Hope this helps, for more specific advice?

    Just ask!
