    New Product Introduction - targeted at retailers and catalog
    I am a partner in a startup company that is bringing a new kind of flashlight to market. It will basically be competing in the same space as rechargeable MagLites and Streamlight flashlights.

    What we are trying to ascertain is a basic question...how do we bring this kind of product to market. Initially, through retailers in the Pacific Northwest, and nationally through catalog sales.

    The basic questions we need to answer for our "go to market" plan are as follows (and these are not all inclusive, to be sure...)

    Generally speaking, what are the sales cycles for retail sales, what kind of payment terms are there insofar as who owns the merchandise when it is in the store? Are there generally minimum order quantities?

    Any comments or article suggestions would be greatly appreciated since we are quite new to this.
