    Linux Pre-Installs?
Do you think there would be any legal problems retailing computers pre-installed with Linux?

It's possible, depending on the hardware manufacturer's terms of service. For example, if you manage to get linux running on an old mac, apple can still sue you because it's against their ToS to use anything other than their own operating systems.
Linux is open source, so you wouldn't get in trouble for selling it preinstalled otherwise, but it's all up to the original equipment manufacturer. And most equipment manufacturers have contracts with Microsoft stating that they're not allowed to have their PCs sold without the specified Windows OS on them (hence why you see the new computers for sale with only windows 8 in large chain stores these days-the manufacturers aren't even allowed to put windows 7 on their new devices because of their contracts with Microsoft and the fact that they're trying to phase out all other versions.)

I don't know if Linux still exists. That is certainly one of the things we all have been looking forward to. - Steven C Wyer
